The Week Leading up to Leaving

Yesterday, we were excited to be done packing each of our 45 boxes. We picked up a U-Haul van, loaded everything up, and dropped it off at the airport in Chicago. We helped put the boxes on the pallets, and then they saran wrapped everything together. The shipping company worked everything out so that these boxes will arrive in Harare just a couple days after we do. We are thankful that we decided on this shipping option, and pray that there won't be any issues once it gets to customs.

We feel so incredibly blessed with a phenomenal board of directors. Since JM2Z is a pioneering organization and we are still in the foundational stages as an organization, we are so encouraged by the men and women who have chosen to serve on the board when many critical decisions need to be made as we move forward. We are grateful for their support, their guidance, their service to ministry and their friendship to us.

One such great example of tangible ways that they serve us are in personal gifts that will make our lives so much easier and safer. Jessie and Dan Gundersen blessed us with a steripen, filter system, and solar panel for charging purposes. Since Chinhoyi's water is not drinkable, it is necessary for us to purify our water (until we can get the well dug). This will also come in handy every time I (Yolanda) travel to a rural area and need to both filter and purify water to drink. The steripen purifies water with its UV light and does it in only 90 seconds and kills 99.9999% of water born diseases, viruses, and bacteria. A necessary and generous gift indeed.

I (Yolanda) am still presently in an online class - Hebrew Exegesis. I still have several weeks left, but am unsure how long it will take us to get connected to internet once we arrive in Zimbabwe. I also need to stay on top of deadlines before we fly, which has become harder and harder as so many other things vie for my time and energy.

This week has been filled with dentist appointments, doctor check-ups, malaria prescriptions, and general first aide supplies checklist in hand - vitamins, cold medicine, etc. Although we feel very content with any care we might need in Zimbabwe, we still think it best to cover the basics before our 6 month departure.

Andrew and I have felt especially emotional lately; partly due to a lack of sleep, the many transitions about to take place and the many changes already taking place. At times we are overwhelmed with all that still needs doing, our monthly support, the feeling of not being prepared or just plain tired. Yet, through it all God is sovereign! We are so encouraged by so many of you who have been praying for us and have told us so. We feel blessed that several of you have chosen to partner with us monthly in recent weeks. And ultimately, we know that God has gone before us to prepare the way. Although it will only be for a 6 month stint (at this point), we know it will not be easy and we expect many bumps in the road, but we are so very excited for all that God has planned. Please pray for us! We covet your prayers, your encouragement, and your communication. Thank you for your love and support and your continued faith in us and in this amazing ministry called JM2Z - after all it is His ministry!

Good morning, I just read your blog and I thought of something I heard Jim Elliots wife say one time on her radio broadcast. When I am overwhelmed with so much to do, I have found that "doing the next thing" is the best way to handle it, rather than looking at all the next things, just DO the next thing. Be encouraged my friend, God Reigns.!
