Final Church Visits

Picture
Our visits to Lighthouse Christian Church in Oregon and Weiser Christian Church in Idaho were great! Everyone was very welcoming and excited to hear how the Lord has been working through JM2Z in Zimbabwe! It was our first visit to Lighthouse, so we were blessed to meet many new people who heard about JM2Z for the first time. At Weiser, we loved seeing so many familiar faces and friends.

We also spent time in Boise and visited with many individuals. Some of which were at Boise Bible College's Spring Conference. It was such a blessing to be there and interact with everyone, including BBC faculty, students, and alumni. Anytime we see these friends, our hearts get filled and encouraged. We are extremely thankful for these interactions and can't say enough positive about them!

Auction Ended

If you attend one of our churches then you've heard about this story about Sissie Winnie. During our group times, while all the other ladies were crocheting safari animals, Sissie Winnie was knitting squares. When the safari animal craft was introduced to everyone, it became apparent that between reading the pattern and the actual skill of it, that it was going to be too difficult for her. So Yolanda suggested that she knit squares. Each week, while the other ladies were making safari animals, she was making squares. After awhile, she had made quite a pile of them. So Yolanda suggested that she could knit them together and make a blanket. So that's exactly what she did.

Sissie Winnie completed the blanket just before we left Zimbabwe. You could see her face was beaming with pride from her accomplishment. However, her smile soon faded away, as she looked around the room at everyone else's safari animals. She said, "My blanket is alright. But no one will want to buy it. They'll want to buy all the animals because their so colorful and cute." Yolanda told her that she was sure someone would buy it.

So when we visited churches this year, we took the blanket to each one and put a clipboard next to it. Yes, Sissie Winnie was correct, that all of the safari animals were sold! However, we didn't put a price on her blanket. Rather, we turned it into an auction. Optimistically in our minds, we thought that we would be excited if someone gave up to $80 or $100 for the blanket.

We overwhelmed when we saw that the lady who made the winning bid for the blanket wrote down $500! What a blessing this will be for Sissie Winnie!

While making the animals, we kept track of the number each one of them made. So we will give each lady the cash they earned, based on the amount of animals they crocheted. Each one earned quite a bit of money, which will greatly bless them and their families. Before giving them anything, though, we will discuss, dream, and plan how they might want to use it to grow their businesses or something of that nature, so that it doesn't get wasted on something short-sided. We are excited to see how the Lord might use this in their lives!

Missionary Relief Worker

Janeece's (our missionary relief worker) time filling in for us is winding down. She will be leaving Zimbabwe at the end of May. She has been so helpful for us! She has continued Bible studies with the women and done a wonderful job encouraging them. She is integral to our furloughs, so that we can be 100% present here and not have to worry about anything that side. She has been SUPER busy during this assignment and I'm sure does more things than we even know about. We are very thankful for her and for her work with missions around the world!

Upcoming Schedule

After this week visiting a board member and friends in California, we will head back to the midwest, in order to meet with individuals. Then we will get in some last minute family time, before leaving for Zimbabwe at the end of June. Please pray for continued safety in travel and positive interactions as we go along.
