We are thankful for great church visits the last 2 weeks. We went to Barrington Community Church (Penn Yan, NY) two weekends ago and Albion Evangelical Free Church (Cokato, MN) last weekend. It was such a blessing to see friends we've known for years, as well as meet some new people too! We were warmly welcomed by all for wonderful meals, conversations, meetings, and speaking engagements. We were blessed at both churches by their generosity in hospitality, prayers, and finances. We are so grateful for our supporting churches, both the churches we have already visited and those coming up. Each of our churches understands the concept of partnership, and we feel so incredibly blessed to call each and every one of them, partners in ministry!
We were so excited to hear back from parents and grandparents alike, from our last church visit. We received some photos of kids who loved their new stuffed animals! One parent said, "Someone in MN had to give her giraffe both pants and boots to live in the snow - both a blue elephant and giraffe live at this home now. " See the precious pictures below of a little girl who has clothed her giraffe appropriately for the Minnesota winter.
Thank you for sharing these precious photos and stories with us! It warms our hearts and we look forward to sharing them with the ladies back in Zimbabwe.
We were also blessed by a ministry called "Wrapped in Love" in Buffalo, MN, who ministers to foster and adoptive families. The ministry accepts donations of clothes, shoes, bags and other such needs. They blessed us with their keys to go "shopping" at their "store" for FREE. We got several clothing essentials, carry-on bags, and other such needs. We felt very loved and blessed as missionaries, having these basic needs met while stateside (especially during winter), is such a blessing to us!
Janeece, who is a Missionary Relief Worker, is presently at our place in Zimbabwe, filling in for us and ensuring ministry continues as needed, in our absence. At the start of the month, food and hygiene hampers were delivered once again. We continue to look for sponsors who will commit to $50 per month, to cover the cost for this program.
Continued work on the new ministry building will also start in the next couple months.
Right before we left Zimbabwe at the end of last year, we gifted each of the ladies with yarn, stuffing, and all the materials needed to make some extra stuffed animals. Each lady received enough supplies to make a stuffed animal for each of their children/grandchildren, up to 7th grade. We received some photos from one of the ladies who shared their excitement on their kids' faces when they received their very own animal, at Christmas time!
As the new school year started in Zimbabwe (January), we have new children who entered the Education Sponsorship Program. New little faces are beaming in their brand new uniforms as they prepare to enter pre-school. As more children have entered this program, we are looking for monthly sponsors to commit to $25 a month to ensure a child's education is covered, along with any additional schooling fees, such as uniforms, etc.
And in the picture below, if you're wondering what low hanging fruit is hanging from that tree where the kids shelter in the shade - they are mangoes, delicious Zimbabwean mangoes. If we were home, the ladies would no doubt be blessing us bags of mangoes this time of year.
We leave Thursday (Feb 2nd) for Oregon to visit with our churches in the West. We hope to see as many of you as possible when we are on that side of the country. Stay updated on our JM2Z Facebook page to know where we are and what we're doing. We ask for your prayers for traveling mercies, for good visits with ministry partners and for pockets of rest.
